Marvel’s Avengers now displays your IP address

Dread it, run away from it…

Upon launch, Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers has had its fair share of criticism and controversy. From bugs that unlocked the game’s paid cosmetics to an issue with Captain America’s ability to open doors that made him extremely difficult to play, the issues that plagued Avengers have been a cause for great concern (and financial loss). for Square Enix. However, with the launch of the recent Cosmic Cube event, Avengers suffered perhaps its biggest and most damning bug yet.

The Cosmic Cube update is set to add an all-new villain sector, “Beating The Odds”, in which players battle the villainous Scientist Supreme Monica Rappaccini to stop her from using the Cosmic Cube’s ultimate power. However, there was an unexpected “bonus” to the update for PlayStation 5 gamers, especially streamers – Now a string of numbers and letters can be seen bouncing between different places on your screen spelling out your gamer tag, time, date and, most importantly, your IP address. The text appears right from the main menu, and there’s currently no known way to remove it (unless turning off the game, that is).

Marvel's Avengers DLC

Essentially, doxxing anyone who wants to stream the new Cosmic Cube content is a bold choice for a game that needs a boost for players as much as Marvel’s Avengers, but it seems the text was never meant to be visible – Crystal Dynamics developers have already done this. have commented on the situation, letting us know that they are aware of it and are currently planning an upcoming patch to remove the IP address.

The fix for this bug is expected to be released around 8:00 AM PT tomorrow – Hopefully it will effectively fix the issue so we can all get back to streaming safely!
