There’s one aspect that Apple really can’t compete with its Windows-based rivals on – and that’s variety. Apple uses its own operating system and releases a relatively small mix of computing options each year.
Windows competitors, however, must constantly push the envelope by designing different machines around the same operating software. There has been a lot of success in the PC market over the past two years, with the last two quarters seeing record sales for all major PC manufacturers. And Windows has been the dominant operating system. According to Statista, the Windows operating system dominated desktop computing with just under 74% market share in 2021. That said, Apple systems are certainly gaining ground, posting year-over-year gains.
The end of the pandemic could lead to more measured demand, but solution providers believe demand will return to a new normal and OEMs will still need to keep up with market developments.
As part of CRN’s Mobile 100 2022, here’s a look at some amazing Windows machines, all vying for sales in a crowded computing space with plenty of options.
