Outer space is a frontier for many industries, including cybersecurity. To discuss cyber solutions in space technologies, host Michelle Dawn Mooney invited Jack Blood, Chief Revenue Officer of VAYA Space, and Chad Ives, Director of Sales at C8 Secure, on board.
VAYA Space is a more sustainable solution for the exploration of outer space, eliminating plastic waste from the planet through recycling and helping to put satellites into orbit more economically and reliably than current technologies. “What makes VAYA unique is that we use the equivalent of 20 metric tons of recycled thermoplastics. That’s the equivalent of over 2 million plastic bottles that are recycled into high-energy rocket fuel,” Blood explained.
Ives has worked in the technology and services industry for nearly two decades. He moved to C8 because “C8 Secure,” he said, “is all about a cybersecurity services company.” C8 Secure is about taking the best factors from the business and applying them to services. This includes talking to partners and customers and enforcing regulations and compliance.
Both VAYA and C8 Secure benefit from mutual collaboration, with C8 Secure providing significant improvement in transaction latency while ensuring security. Blood remarked, “We realized it was something unique that hadn’t really been put together yet and that the space industry really needed.” The industry itself is susceptible to data network break-ins, ground station jamming, and other disruptions.
By using a cyber-secure and sustainable approach, C8 Secure and VAYA Space have a chance to go beyond traditional security, beyond land boundaries, and be proactive in meeting new challenges.
“What the partnership really gives us is the ability for us, as well as partners and customers, to be proactive with their security projects and what they face from a cybersecurity perspective” , Ives said.
