You can now use CapCut on Windows and macOS without an emulator

CapCut is known for serving as the backbone of much of the content online. It’s a go-to video editor for creators on some of the biggest social media platforms, including TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram.

Previously, you could only use the app on your mobile device to create and edit content. But creators who prefer to edit on their computer will be happy to hear that CapCut is finally available for Windows and macOS.

We’ll show you how to download CapCut on your Windows or Mac computer and introduce the features you can expect.

You can now use CapCut on your computer

CapCut, originally an app only available for Android and iOS, has exploded in popularity as one of the best options for video editing with free features. The demand for a computer version has grown exponentially. And the lack of this option has prompted many users to start using PC emulators and alternative methods to mirror your mobile device to computer.

From August 2022, you can give your phone a break and download the official CapCut editor app on your Windows or Mac computer, without the need for any workarounds. Just like the mobile app, it’s free to use, it has a ton of features, and the installation process is simple.

How to install CapCut on your computer

To get started, you’ll need to go to the CapCut site or the Mac App Store to download the app. Once downloaded, run the executable.

CapCut will then test your computer to see if it will work properly. After that, you are ready to start editing!

You can optionally log in to your TikTok, Facebook or Google account associated with CapCut. But you don’t need to login to use the program.

CapCut features on Windows and macOS

CapCut for Windows and macOS comes with all the features available on the mobile app. This includes:

  • Basic video editing tools like trimming and changing playback speed.
  • Advanced video editing tools such as keyframes, chroma keying and optical flow.
  • Automated features such as text-to-speech and automatic background removal.
  • Text and stickers.
  • Filters and effects.
  • Basic audio tools and sound effects.

The computer version of CapCut comes with lots of hotkeys that can speed up your editing workflow. However, these are not customizable.

Unfortunately, CapCut does not sync across devices, even if you are logged into the same account. However, you can export a project and send the file to other devices.

One fantastic advantage of using CapCut on your computer is ease of use. Replacing taps and swipes with mouse clicks and keystrokes is a breath of fresh air. Not to mention that managing projects with folders and subfolders makes it easy to keep track of where you have stored your files on your computer; no need to download a file manager app on your phone.

Content creators who rely on CapCut have reason to celebrate. Making the app available on computers is a game changer now that you don’t need an emulator anymore. And you won’t miss a thing, all the features you loved on the mobile app are available on the desktop version.
